How to move applications and folders in AOMEI Partition Assistant?

This article will show you how to move applications to another location with App Mover in AOMEI Partition Assistant.

App Mover is used to free up drive's space by moving applications/folders from one partition to another. It helps move applications/folders from one partition to another safely and effortlessly so that you can free more space on the original partition. Moved applications/folders will work without issues on the destination location, and you can also restore them back to the original location.

To move applications/folders

Step 1. Install and launch AOMEI Partition Assistant, and then click "All Tools" and "App Mover".

Step 2: You will see 2 options: move apps or move folders. This step we choose "App Mover".

Step 3. All your partitions will be listed in the window, the number and size of installed apps on every partition will also be displayed. Choose one partition that you want to move applications from and click "Next".

Step 4. All movable apps in the selected partition will be listed, choose applications you want to move and select the target location, then click "Move".

Step 5. You will see a pop-up message to confirm forcibly closing running applications when moving starts. Click "OK" to begin the process.

Step 6. If you choose "Move Folders", please click "Add Folder" to add the folders you want to move and choose the target drive, after that, please click "Move".

Step 7. You will see a pop-up message to confirm forcibly closing running applications when moving starts. Click "OK" to begin the process.

To restore applications/folders

When you have moved some applications, you might want to restore them to the original location due to some reasons. App Mover can restore moved applications and folders.

Step 1. Install and launch AOMEI Partition Assistant, and then click "All Tools" and "App Mover".
Step 2. Click "Manage/Restore", the applications and folders you have moved before will be listed, choose one or multiple apps or folders you want to restore and click "Restore".

Step 3. You will see a pop-up message to confirm forcibly closing running applications when restoring starts. Click "OK" to begin the process.

Note:

  • To ensure the apps run properly, please don't move or delete files in the source and target directory.
  • You can see operation records of app movement in "Manage/Restore"-->"View Logs".
  • If you move the installation directory of moved applications manually to another location, AOMEI Partition Assistant might be unable to detect it. You need to select the app and then re-load the current location under "Manage/Restore"-->"Repair Location", then you can do the restore.
  • When you move the application to another location successfully, you will see a shortcut of the installation directory in the original location. This will not take up disk space and please do not delete it.
